Steve Nitodas
Dr. Nitodas is an Assistant Professor of Practice for the Chemical and Molecular Engineering (CME) program. He teaches several CME core courses (Separations, Reaction Engineering, Process Control), as well as CME specialization and graduate courses. Dr. Nitodas is a chemical engineer by training and holder of a Ph.D. degree from the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Rochester, New York. He has been a member of the Faculty of the Department of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering at Stony Brook University since 2018. Prior to joining Stony Brook University, he worked for several years in the industry as R&D Director and Business Development Manager, starting in the microelectronics sector and then continuing in the nanotechnology field. He has developed numerous nanotech-based materials, including polymer nanocomposites and nanostructured carbon, for commercial applications in the electronics, marine and aerospace industry. The interests and expertise of Dr. Nitodas lie in reaction engineering and advanced nanomaterials development through catalytic processes, such as chemical vapor deposition and fluidized bed technology, as well as in educational pedagogy.
