Dennis Lee

His research interests are centered around developing innovative materials processing strategies for synthesizing and characterizing multifunctional composite materials. In addition, he aims to tailor the materials properties through surface/interface modifications and defect engineering to gain a comprehensive understanding of structure-activity-processing relationships. His group utilizes vapor-phase processes (including atomic layer deposition/molecular layer deposition and post-synthetic vapor treatment) as well as wet chemical methods (such as sol-gel and solvothermal/hydrothermal synthesis) to fabricate targeted porous material-based hybrid systems. These hybrid systems find applications of interest in various areas, including (i) toxic chemical detoxification, (ii) membrane gas separation, (iii) materials patterning, and many more, which are associated with energy and environmental sustainability, and global health applications.
