About The Program

All students participating in Global Summer Institute (GSI) programs have the opportunity to meet and interact with a Global Student Ambassador (GSA) during their stay at Stony Brook University. GSAs are Stony Brook student volunteers who help our GSI students adjust to living on campus, practice their English, and learn about American culture.

GSI students are automatically assigned a GSA who they will meet at orientation.  Students and GSAs will make a plan on how they want to spend their time together. For example, meeting over lunch/dinner to talk, grabbing a coffee at Starbucks, going to the Recreation Center for a fitness class, shopping at the mall, etc. GSAs will also attend orientation, field trips, and social events planned throughout the summer.

It's a great way to make new friends!
