Retail Manager (SBU Hospital)

Position Summary

As part of a management team, the Retail Manager will ensure that organizational and strategic goals are met.  The manager plans, organizes, and directs all aspects of Retail Operations. 

**Essential Position: This position is considered "Essential." The incumbent must report to work regardless of extreme weather or other conditions. **

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Food Service or business-related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive Retail Food Service Management experience 
  • Experience in cash controls, menu merchandising, profit & loss accountability, and electronic point-of-sale systems.
  • Experience with overseeing food production 
  • Demonstrated creativity in retailing and merchandising 
  • Ability to lead and train personnel.
  • Supervisory experience
  • Knowledge and application of Part 14 NYS Sanitary Code
  • Strong Customer Service skills.
  • Computer Literate
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must show confidentiality in the performance of duties
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work harmoniously with a variety of people.
  • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position. 
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as appropriate

Primary Responsibilities / Accountabilities / Essential Functions:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Service or Business related field
  • Multi-unit food service experience.
    • Knowledge of federal, state, and local codes and regulations pertaining to hospital food service.
    • Strong leadership and communication skills
    • Previous experience in a healthcare setting
    • Supervising Patient Services staff, as well as the food preparation staff.
  • Supervisory experience with larger groups of Union employees, including scheduling, quality control, HACCP, and employee training.

Additional Details

FLSA: Exempt
Schedule: Full-time: Weekend shifts are REQURIED
Salary: Starting at $70,000 per year

Reporting to this Position: Supervisors and Local 1199 employees on shift
