IT Support Analyst (FSA)

Position Summary

The IT Support Analyst will provide day-to-day technical and operational support for FSA's servers, business systems, websites, and applications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (In lieu of a degree, six years of directly related full-time computer support experience or a combination of higher education and experience totaling six full-time years may be considered.)
  • Minimum of four (4) years of full-time demonstrated experience supporting, installing, configuring, and troubleshooting IT equipment (i.e., servers, computers, printers, mobile devices). 
  • Working knowledge supporting and troubleshooting PC & MAC hardware and software.
  • General understanding of networking and how it relates to the Desktop Support and server infrastructure (e.g., TCPIP, Firewalls, VLAN's, DHCP scope, etc.) 
  • Ability to utilize remote software solutions to resolve desktop support-related issues
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suites and Google Apps.
  • Prior experience with inventory and asset management.
  • Prior experience with mobile device setup and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in documenting resolutions. 
  • Ability to provide desk-side training for end users on new technologies. 
  • Excellent customer relations skills. 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position. 
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as appropriate.

Primary Responsibilities / Accountabilities / Essential Functions:

  • Work experience in an  educational environment,  preferably higher education   
  • Exposure to food service business environment  
  • Experience with Square POS, Micros POS, and CBORD Odyssey
  • Experience with PCI compliance protocols
  • Familiarity with Python programming and SQL databases

Program / Department Responsibilities:

Perform as technical liaison for FSA regarding technical support interactions with business partners and vendors.  Including but not limited to:

  • Providing hardware and software quotes
  • Execution of project plans
  • Vendor onsite installations and troubleshooting of hardware and software
  • Providing guidance, direction, and alignment to vendors and business partners regarding University (DoIT) best practices related to their respective technologies.
  • Configure, maintain and support the CBORD Odyssey PCS meal plan system.
  • Analyze and configure FSA IT corporate computing resources (e.g., servers, desktops)
  • Utilize FSA TrackIT for asset management 

Provide 1st and 2nd level technical and operational support for:

  • FSA corporate and accounting systems
  • FSA USG Finance systems
  • FSA USG Ticket Office 
  • FSA Dietary is located at SB Hospital, Veterans Home, and Southampton Hospital
  • Stony Brook Calverton Incubator
  • server and network infrastructure to include hardware, software, and operating systems (e.g., systems updates, patches, maintenance, security updates, etc.) and telephony.
  • mobile technologies
  • various FSA vendors POS Systems 
  • SBU Bookstores

Including but not limited to project management, research, analytics, and developing/providing technical solutions for various operating systems, networks, applications, and hardware-related issues.

  • Research and document resolutions to technical support issues in the departmental knowledge base and ticket system. In addition, the incumbent will be required to research and understand new technologies as they develop to make recommendations for improving the computing experience of the campus community.
  • Other duties appropriate to rank and department mission include providing backup coverage for other professional technical support positions as needed.

  • Work Environment: While performing duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.  The noise in the work environment is usually minimal.

FLSA: Exempt
Schedule: Full-time
Salary: $75,000-80,000 per year
