Three Themed Initiative Areas 

 

1. Competency and Professional Development

Self-assessment and skill-building in the professional competency areas of Student Affairs and is designed  to help prepare one to effectively lead and manage a diverse staff, and create an inclusive work environment. 

Professional Competencies Self-Assessment Overview

An in-depth review of the ACPA/NASPA Professional Competency Areas for Student Affairs Educators. Participants will be given instructions for completing a self-assessment survey to gain insights about their professional strengths in each competency and identify areas for future development.  

2. Preparation for Career Mobility

Pathways, pipelines, and professional mentoring to help DLDI participants advance in the Student Affairs profession.

Senior-Level Mentorship 

Designed to connect mid-level professionals within the division of who self-identify as members of historically underepresented groups with highly-experienced administrators for mentorship and career coaching. This unique professional mentoring opportunity is for aspiring Student Affairs leaders. 

New Professional Career Mobility Series (Coming Soon!)

A series program designed to help entry-level underrepresented Student Affairs staff with professional development and developing career enhancement (in conjunction with Competency Development Workshop Series).

3. A Community of Support

Create a more supportive community of Student Affairs colleagues through inclusive social, cultural, and professional events and initiatives.  

Student Affairs New Staff On-Boarding/New Staff Orientation  (Date: October 5, 2023)

A presentation about DLDI designed exclusively for new members of the Divison of Student Affairs. 

Social Networking and Cultural Enrichment Activities 

Gatherings and cultural activities that support and affirm underrepresented Student Affairs professionals while crating opportunities to build relationships and educae colleagues. Participation is open to all Student Affairs professionals. 

DLDI Resource Teams (formerly called DLDI Affinity Groups)

Individual groups based on an individual's shared identities and/or interests and intersectionality with their professional leadership development. DLDI has the following resource teams that are led by Student Affairs staff volunteers:

Women of Color
LGBTQ* Communities
