Eroll Kuhn

Biography

Eroll Kuhn is a Senior Researcher in the Political Science Department at Stony Brook University. Before SBU, Eroll was a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute. Eroll holds a PhD and MA in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a BA in Political Science and English Literature from Vassar College.

Research

Eroll’s research focuses on migration. One strand of work examines the reception of newcomers in receiving societies, with an emphasis on the political attitudes and behavior of natives. A second strand explores how policies and institutions shape the integration of immigrants, especially asylum-seekers and refugees in Europe.To address research questions, Eroll uses methods and designs to credibly identify causal effects using observational data, natural language processing and other tools for text-as-data, as well as machine learning approaches.
