ReportIt for Students

 

ReportIt: Ending Sexual Misconduct for Onboarding Students

This is the inital training program for all students.  If you have not particpated in ReportIt previously you should take this version of the program.   

ReportIt: Ending Sexual Misconduct Annual Review for Students

Students can receive credit for this  version of the program if they have participated in ReportIt previously.    Student Atheltes and Student Leaders are required to participate annually.   

Reportit: Annual Review for Mandated Reporters

Resident Assistants, Graduate and Teaching Assistants and other student-employees with first line access to other student can take this review version of the program which includes informaiton on their responsibiltiy to report.

 

ReportIt for Faculty and Staff

Reportit: Ending Sexual Misconduct for Onboarding Faculty & Staff

This is the inital training program for all faculty and staff,  If you have not particpated in ReportIt previously you should take this version of the program.

Reportit: Ending Sexual Misconduct Annual Review  for Faculty & Staff 

Employees can receive credit for this verison of the of the program if they have completed Reportit previously.   Employees are required to participate in training annually.

ReportIt; Responsible Employee Program (Stand Alone Version)

Responsible Employees must particpate in training to understand their responsibility to report incidents of sexual misconduct.   If you are a  Responsible Employee and did not participate in this section when you participated in Reportit you may complete this program.

Is ReportIt. required?

EMPLOYEES: Annual participation in ReportIt. is mandatory for all employees.

STUDENTS: ReportIt. is mandatory for all students new to degree programs.

Student Leaders (E-board members and Resident Assistants) and Athletes are required to participate in ReportIt. on an annual basis.

Why is ReportIt. required?

ReportIt. is an integral part of Stony Brook University's* is committment to addressing and preventing sexual misconduct, as part of the University commitment to creating an educational environment, work environment, and a medical environment; free of harassment, the University has established programs that support education with the goal of prevention and that follows State law, which requires its members to receive training.

ReportIt. Ending Sexual Misconduct also fulfills student and employee sexual misconduct training requirements under various NYS and federal laws.

*Stony Brook University includes Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook Children's, the Long Island State Veterans Home, Stony Brook Southampton and all other Stony Brook University affiliated activities, programs and facilities.

Do I have to take ReportIt. if I have taken similar training from another employer or at another educational institution?

Yes. ReportIt. is program developed by Stony Brook University for Stony Brook University. It was designed to make individuals aware of Stony Brook University policies and procedures and ensure that everyone in the Stony Brook University Community knows their options and the who, how and where of reporting sexual misconduct and how to access to confidential resources. Training programs from other employers or educational institutions are not a substitute for participation in ReportIt.

I graduated from Stony Brook as an undergraduate and took training my freshman year and am now returning as a graduate student, do I still have to take ReportIt?
Yes, student returning to Stony Brook as a graduate student have to participate in all on-boarding requirements. NYS requires Stony Brook to train all on-boarding students.

I am an employee and student, do I have to take ReportIt. twice?

No, if you have already participated in ReportIt this year*, you do not have to take ReportIt two times. If you get an email assigning you ReportIt for Students after you have completed ReportIt for Faculty and Staff or vice versa, please contact OEA with your name, SBUID and ReportIt completion certificate (if available) and we will record your participation in the first program for the second requirement.

*Please note that under NYS law employee requirements are based upon a calendar year and student requirements are based upon an academic year so that each request will be evaluated for compliance.

I am an employee and a student, which version of ReportIt. should I take?

Much of the information in the programs is similar, however there are differences. At this time Stony Brook University policy allows each individual to decide which program they should take. After you complete the program of your choice please do not forget to email your certificate and SBUID to oea_training@stonybrook.edu so that your participation can be recorded for both requirements.

What happens if I do not take ReportIt.?

EMPLOYEES. For employees who do not complete the program within a reasonable time frame may be referred to their Employee and Labor Relations department.

STUDENTS. For students who don't complete the training within a reasonable time frame, a hold will be placed within their SOLAR account to remind the student of the requirement.

What are the technical requirements to participate in ReportIt.?

For Desktop and laptop computers

OEA recommends Google Chrome to view the content.

The training can be used by the following browsers: Internet Explorer 8-10 (Flash Only), Microsoft Edge (latest Version), Google Chrome (Latest Version, Preferred), Firefox (latest Version), and Safari (latest Version).

Mobile Browsers for Viewing Content

The following mobile browsers can be used to view content: Safari in Apple iOS 10 or later, Google Chrome in Apple iOS or later, Google Chrome in Andriod OS 4.4 or later.

The online training has audio throughout, and it is recommended that the viewer has speakers, however, this is not required to complete, view, or participate with the progam in its entirety.

Is ReportIt. Accessible & ADA Compliant?

Yes. The ReportIt. is compliant with Section 508 accessibility guidelines.

How long will ReportIt. take?

Progress is based on the individual user; however, we do recommend that you set aside at least an hour to fully complete it within one sitting.

RESPONSIBLE EMPLOYEES: If you are a Responsible Employee you should participate in an optional section which explains your responsibilities. We recommend an hour and a half to complete the ReportIt. training and the additional Responsible Employee section..

What if I cannot complete ReportIt. within one sitting?

ReportIt. allows you to stop and come back on your personal use computer. However, during times of updates, you may lose your information and start anew.

If you share your computer, we recommend that you set aside an hour to complete within one sitting since multiple users using the same browser will make you lose your progress.

I am a supervisor, and my employees have been contacted for their annual training requirements. For my records, how can I request completion data for my reports?

You may request this information at any time. However, we will not review your request until after the scheduled deadline to collect accurate data. Furthermore, please allow us two weeks to reply, as, at times, we receive a high volume of requests that affect our turnaround time.
