Meet OEA's New Investigations Team!

OEA has expanded our investigations team and permanently filled some recent vaccancies.  We are pleased to welcome such a range of terrific experience on board.

Director of Investigations and Assistant Title IX Coordinator

Renaire comes to SBU from Adelphi University where she served as the Title IX Coordinator/Director, Equity & Compliance.  Renaire earned her Bachelor's degree in International Business and Spanish from Hofstra University and her law degree from Boston University School of Law.  She also has a professional certificate in Diversity and Inclusion Management from Cornell ILR School.  In her role as Director of Investigations and Assistant Title IX Coordinator Renaire will oversee all investigations of allegations of discrimination and sexual misconduct and serve to assist the Title IX Coordinator in ensuring Stony Brook University meets its obligations under Title IX and the Title IX regulations.

Sexual Misconduct & Title IX Investigator and Deputy Title IX Coordinator

Mary is new to OEA but not to Stony Brook University.   Prior to joining the OEA Team, Mary was the Assistant Director in Student Conduct and Community Standards where she worked closely with OEA. Mary has 10 years professional experience in Higher Education and 5 years experience in conducting Title IX Investigations at both large public institutions and small private institutions. Mary will be pursuing her Juris Doctorate in Fall 2022.  In her role as Title IX Investigator and Deputy Title IX Coordinator Mary will serve as the lead investigator for all allegations involving sexual misconduct.

EEO Investigator

Frank has over a decade of experience as a Senior Investigator handling all EEO matters at both public and private institutions, including institutions of higher education. Throughout his career he has obtained numerous certifications, including from the from the NYS Student Conduct Institute, related to Title VII and Title IX investigations. Frank received his bachelor's degree from Empire State College.  Frank is strongly committed to upholding the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion. In his role as EEO Investigator, Frank will serve as the lead investigator for allegations of discrimination based upon all protected classifications under federal and state laws.

Investigative Support Specialist

Debi has been providing support to the Office of Equity and Access for over a year and has over 15 years professional administrative experience.  Debi received her Bachelor of Business Administration from Hofstra University.  In her new role as Investigative Support Specialist she will provide administrative support and assistance for the investigations team.

H2: ReportIt Ending Sexual Misconduct

Reminder: Required Program for New Students

New York State requires that all on-boarding students -- freshman, transfers, graduate students or professional students -  participate in sexual violence prevention programming.  Stony Brook University has developed ReportIt: Ending Sexual Misconduct for Students to provide information for students regarding prevention and prohibition of sexual harassment, sexual violence and all forms of sexual misconduct.  New students should complete the program by February 15, 2022.
