Won Choi is currently a first-year PhD student in Art History & Criticism at the Stony Brook University. She received her BA and MA degrees from the Department of Aesthetics at Seoul National University in Seoul, South Korea. Her research focuses on the history and theory of photography, media archaeology, and the decolonization of photographic media and discourse. In pursuit of this scholarly curiosity, she seeks to expand “the decisive moment” of photography into “the decisive moments” by exploring the significance of the subjectivity, sovereignty, and experience of the photographed in front of the camera.
