THE ESSENTIALS

• A 3-hour exploration of effective and engaging science communication skills and strategy

  Participants: up to 20 individuals

  The Essentials offers participants foundational skills and strategies for effective science communication. Participants also benefit from feedback from their peers and Alda-certified facilitators as they begin to create and deliver messages about their science.  

   

  This virtual program offers a critical slice of our in-person Signature Science Communication Program. It is also a part of our virtual Foundational Series.

FOUNDATIONAL SERIES

• The Essentials, Small Group Coaching, and Science Through Narrative

  Duration: 3-part online series
  Participants: Up to 20 individuals (all modules)

  The Foundational Virtual Series brings together several virtual programs to offer a deeper understanding and progressive application of core science communication strategy and skills. A cohort of participants from your organization will learn and experiment with the fundamentals of effective science communication in this series.

  MODULE ONE: The Essentials (3 hours)	The Essentials offers participants foundational skills and strategies for effective science communication. Participants engage with improvisational exercises, strategic messaging tools, and feedback from their peers and Alda-certified facilitators.
  MODULE TWO: Small Group Coaching (Two 3-hour sessions; up to 10 participants per session)	Participants apply lessons from The Essentials and practice talking about their work to non-expert audiences. Through feedback from peers and Alda-certified facilitators, participants refine and improve their messages in a supportive, intimate session.
  MODULE THREE: Science Through Narrative (3 hours)	Building on the skills and strategies of The Essentials and Small Group Coaching, participants learn to create a memorable and engaging narrative about their research using narrative tools and techniques.

  The Foundational Series is meant for a cohort of up to 20 people to experience these sessions in sequence.
