What is the Socially Just Seawolves Living Community?

Purpose

The Socially Just Seawolves pays homage to the legacy of Harriet Tubman. Students will be able to explore social justice issues and begin the work towards equity as engaged citizens on both local and global levels. There will be practical service-learning projects focused on food disparities, social justice, and community engagement. Students will have the added value of building relationships with faculty/staff and the greater Stony Brook community.

Applying for the Socially Just Seawolves

For the 2025-2026 academic year, the application for the Socially Just Seawolves is included in the overall Returning Resident Room Selection application.

  • There is not currently a late application process for SJS.
  • Applicants will be notified no later than March 24, 2025 if they are admitted into the community.
