College of Arts and Sciences Dean Search Updates

11/20/2023

Dear Colleagues,

I am sharing a couple of key updates on our search for the next Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

As noted in previous communications, we will be conducting a full national search process to recruit a diverse roster of exceptional candidates to lead our largest college. We are partnering with Isaacson, Miller to help us facilitate this search.

I am pleased to share that I have appointed a search committee, made up of key stakeholders across the university. The list of search committee members is posted on a webpage dedicated to information about this search. I am grateful to all these committee members for their partnership. I also want to thank the search co-chairs Celia Marshik, Dean of the Graduate School and Professor of English, and Alfredo Fontanini, Professor and Chair, Department of Neurobiology and Behavior.

At this time, we invite your feedback on key qualities and characteristics that we should seek in the next dean of CAS. You can share your feedback via this survey link, through Dec. 1. We are also hosting sessions for CAS faculty and staff to share their feedback directly with the search firm; additional details to follow.

We will share more information on the search and position description in the early spring semester.

Sincerely,
Carl
