Lindsi Walker

lindsi walker

Senior Associate Provost for Global Affairs
Lindsi Walker leads the Division of Global Affairs as Senior Associate Provost, effective January 2024.

Walker has served in Global Affairs since 2009, most recently as Interim Vice Provost and previously as Senior Assistant Dean for International Academic Programs and Services in the Office of Global Affairs. She serves as the university’s Senior International Officer and oversees the five units within the Office of Global Affairs, promoting university global engagement across campus and internationally.

Walker has steered the unit to many significant accomplishments, prioritizing access to global academic experiences for students and the highest level of service to SBU’s international student population. Her dedication and efforts have helped Stony Brook expand its international profile through growth in diverse global partnerships.

Walker spearheaded the implementation of online service modules for both Visa and Immigration Services and International Academic Programs. Under her leadership, the IAP Study Abroad Scholarship was created in 2017 and has awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships to assist students in making study abroad a reality. Stony Brook remains top in the SUNY system for study abroad participation.

In Spring 2020, upon the realization that many of our international students would be unable to return to SBU for the fall semester, Walker worked with partner universities to offer the SBU Home Abroad program, which was designed to allow SBU’s international students to “study abroad” in their home country, maintaining degree progress from abroad, avoiding time difference challenges, and enrolling in in-person courses.

In April 2020, Stony Brook established the Stony Brook Institute at Anhui University under the leadership of Walker and the Office of Global Affairs. The Institute currently has approximately 1100 students enrolled, with its first cohort graduating in May 2024.

Walker earned her Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in international marketing from Northern Kentucky University, and participated in educational study abroad programs in Ghana and Denmark.
