Congratulations To Our Stony Awards Finalists

November 8, 2023

To the Stony Brook Community,

Earlier this semester, The Stony Awards employee recognition program was unveiled to honor Stony Brook staff, healthcare workers and faculty who are making a difference on our campus, the Long Island region, New York and beyond. During the nomination process for the inaugural awards, 135 submissions were received recognizing excellence, service and dedication. Letters of support consistently praised nominees for their exceptional commitment, contributions and character. Today it is my honor to announce this year’s Stony Award finalists:

Finalists: Omar Badessi, Sara Cernadas-Martin, Jinyoung Jin and Mitchell Trinka

President’s Award for Excellence in Patient Service

Community Award

SB YOU Award

You can learn more about our finalists who are invited to attend an awards ceremony on November 29 where the winners will be announced, including the recipient of the inaugural President’s Champion Award in recognition of outstanding service in furthering our mission, goals and values.

During the 2023 State of the University address, several newsworthy achievements were recognized and the announcement of the 2023 Stony Award finalists is yet another accomplishment to be proud of. I am grateful to The Stony Awards selection committee as well as those colleagues who worked throughout the summer to develop our new employee recognition programs. To our finalists and all who were nominated, congratulations and thank you for your dedication and commitment to Stony Brook.

With gratitude,
