Please Join Us September 23 to Celebrate CommUniversity Day

September 13, 2023

Dear Stony Brook Community,

In 2017, we started a beloved campus tradition called Stony Brook CommUniversity Day – a festival for our neighbors and employees and their families, as well as our regional partners, alumni, and other friends of all ages. I’m delighted to announce that CommUniversity Day will return on Saturday, September 23 from noon to 4 pm, after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hands-on interactive festivities highlighting the campus will extend throughout the Academic Mall, including many different health screenings, thought-provoking mini-talks, fun entertainment and much more. It’s free and open to the public. I hope you can attend, and I encourage you to invite colleagues, family members, friends and neighbors to join you.

CommUniversity Day is a time to celebrate the reciprocal relationship we have with the communities we serve through a day of cheerful, informative engagement. From music to medicine, from food to fun, we invite you to experience all that Stony Brook has to offer. The festival will feature crowd-favorite events from previous years, such as an ice cream social, duck race, and instrument petting zoo as well as a few brand-new offerings. More information is available on the CommUniversity Day website.

The deep synergy between Stony Brook University and our community is strong, and we’re always exploring more ways to serve and engage the people of Long Island and beyond. As a university that innovates with purpose, we’re committed to leveraging our resources and talent to promote positive change. Our ambitions spread far and wide – across the globe and even into space – but our roots remain right here, in this community.

I look forward to seeing you at CommUniversity Day on September 23.

Sincerely,
