Giving Day 2023

March 28, 2023

Dear Stony Brook Faculty, Staff, and Students,

Wednesday, March 29 is Stony Brook’s annual Giving Day, one of this university’s most successful fundraising efforts when the members of our diverse and tight-knit community have the opportunity to give back and directly support the areas that matter to them most.

Stony Brook University’s reach has expanded exponentially, even just over the past five years. We’re a national leader in innovation, the number one public university in the state, a SUNY flagship, a proud member of the Colonial Athletic Association, and one of the top institutions for diversity and promoting socioeconomic mobility. We’ve become all this and more because we’re a university that holds doors open—for each other, for creativity, for research, and for those who need a helping hand.

Giving Day is an opportunity for us all to live up to this idea of doors held open. Whether it’s the door to a Stony Brook art studio where the status quo is being challenged and beautifully questioned; the door to our Financial Aid offices, where hardworking students can find support for their studies; or the door to an operating room or research lab, where lifesaving medical advances are being made, your generosity on Giving Day is felt all across this campus for years to come.

I hope you’ll join us on Wednesday by visiting givingday.stonybrook.edu. This 24-hour fundraiser has raised more than $1 million over the past five years for our community from over 120 academic and clinical areas across campus. That is because of the generosity and active engagement of faculty, staff, alumni, and students like you. Thank you for your consideration and support.

Sincerely,
