Diane Fabel, PhD, is Director of Operations for the New York State Center for Biotechnology (CfB) at Stony Brook University, and the co-Director of the National Institutes of Health –Research, Evaluation, and Commercialization Hub (NIH REACH) and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority - Division of Research, Innovation and Ventures (BARDA – DRIVe) Business Accelerator. Dr. Fabel’s career has been devoted to understanding the contributing factors related to fostering academic innovation, translation of that innovation to the commercial sector, and on developing the infrastructure to support company formation and bioscience industry growth.  She has been deeply immersed in the design and implementation of university-based high-tech economic development policy and on training the next generation of bioscience industry leaders.  The CfB’s Fundamentals of the Bioscience Industry Program has trained more than 500 graduate students for careers in industry. The program has now been expanded into an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Life Sciences Innovation & Entrepreneurship.
