APPOINTMENT OF KENYA LEWIS TO ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT FOR PEOPLE, CULTURE AND ENGAGEMENT

To West Campus, Schools of the Health Sciences, and Renaissance School of Medicine Faculty and Staff:

I am pleased to announce that after a national search Kenya Lewis has been selected as our new Assistant Vice President for People, Culture, and Engagement. She joins a strong management team to provide leadership to new and expanded areas of HR, including Training and Organizational Development, Culture and Engagement, Recruitment and Talent Acquisition, and Total Rewards. Kenya’s role will include leading training and professional development strategies, providing organizational development support to the campus, and overseeing the development of employee engagement programs. Under her leadership Talent Acquisition and Recruitment will work with Classification and Compensation and Benefits to develop strategies to help attract and retain faculty and staff.

Kenya has more than 21 years of experience with the City of New York, including 5 years as an HR leader for the largest utility system in the country, where she led a Directorate of 50 employees across three divisions at the NYC Department of Environmental Protection, worked with 12 unions, and oversaw a personnel budget of $180 million. Kenya also worked in the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation for 16 years developing and implementing citywide employee recognition programs and supporting recruiting and onboarding. Additionally, she worked at Parks Academy developing and facilitating an array of professional development and training programs, and served as a certified facilitator for Diversity and Inclusion “Everybody Matters” model.

Kenya holds a Master of Management Science, is a Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional and is certified in Lean Six Sigma.

As we welcome Kenya to the HR team on January 19, I would like to thank the search committee led by Rachael Redhead as well as the many stakeholders who participated in the selection process.
