Luis Rodriguez Chaves is a lecturer of Spanish in the Hispanic Languages and Literature department. He earned his PhD in Hispanic Languages and Literature from Stony Brook University.. He specializes in the Spanish narratives of the 20th century, specifically in the destruction of Spanish families in narratives from the post Spanish Civil War era.

He has taught courses in elementary and intermediate Spanish language, as well as advanced courses in grammar and composition, Spanish literature and the culture and civilization of Spain.
