Summer Aid Timeline

1. Complete your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

Summer Aid begins our academic year.  If you are looking for aid for Summer 2024, you will need to have a valid 2024-2025 FAFSA on file. Make sure you include our school code - 002838

2. Complete your Express TAP Application (If you are not a NYS Resident, skip to step 3)

If you would like to be considered for NYS aid in the summer session, you must add our state code - 0875 - to your application. Please note, many times the application will default to Fall/Spring only, so be sure to add for summer as well.

3. We will send you an email confirmation when we receive your FAFSA.

4. If we need any additional information, we will create a To Do List item, which you can view on your SOLAR homepage.

  • Most requested To Do List Items are uploadable directly to us via SOLAR – directions will be provided in the To Do List Item text.  If you need assistance, view our video on the upload process.
  • When utilizing the SOLAR Upload process, please note that the  document name cannot exceed 60 characters and the file format must be either ".TIF" or ".PDF".
  • Items uploaded via SOLAR are typically processed 10 business days sooner than those sent to us or delivered to us in person.

5. Financial Aid Awarding and Notification begins early May.

You must be enrolled for summer classes to be awarded a summer financial aid award package. You must have a valid FAFSA on file with no outstanding To Do list items. If you have met all of the conditions outlined above and it has been more than five days since you've enrolled for your summer course and you have not received an award package, please contact our office.

6. A To Do List item will be assigned and viewable in SOLAR informing you that your awards are ready to view/accept.

7. Accepted financial aid will appear as anticipated against your University bill, with the exception of estimated awards and Federal Work Study.

8. Financial aid will disburse directly into your student account. Financial aid disbursed in excess of University charges will result in a student refund.
