Clinical Psychologist

Required Qualifications

PhD/PsyD in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program. New York State license or eligibility. Experience in behavioral treatment modalities and cognitive psychotherapy in an outpatient psychiatry program.

Preferred Qualifications

Clinical experience with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Experience performing neuropsychological evaluations, including ADOS and ADI-R. Clinical experience in group therapy with children and adolescents. Post-doctoral Fellowship in Child Psychology. Track record of research and teaching experience.

Responsibilities & Requirements

Stony Brook University is undergoing tremendous growth under a new President, Dean and Chair of Psychiatry. In addition, our outpatient psychiatry program is expanding to meet the growing need for behavioral health care in the community. We are looking for individuals who welcome the challenge and satisfaction of working with a growing team of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurse practitioners, social workers, board certified behavioral analysts, mental health counselors, educators and researchers who are motivated to enhance the range of services provided to adults, children and families. The Clinical Assistant Professor will serve as a Clinical Psychologist in the Psychiatry Outpatient Department of Stony Brook University Hospital located in the newly renovated Putnam Hall on the South Campus of Stony Brook University. The program includes a team of twenty attending staff and twelve residents/fellows who provide medication management and therapy services to patients with a wide-range of diagnoses in the adult, child and adolescent population, as well as patients in specialty clinics for autism spectrum disorders, co-occuring disorders, transplant services and geriatrics. Responsibilities include direct patient care, including diagnostic evaluations, follow-up care, and teaching of medical students, residents and fellows. Shifts totaling forty hours per week, including the possibility of evening hours.. There are opportunities for clinical research and off-hours work.

Special Notes

This is a non-tenure track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. To qualify for a senior faculty appointment, the candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Medicine (School of Medicine's Criteria for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure ). Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible.
