Frank Harder researches British literature of the long nineteenth century. His recent work examines how 19th century realist novels engage aesthetically with cultural and ideological issues that pervade Victorian discourse about political Liberalism. This work especially attends to the ways such novels promote, complicate, and question the development of Liberal subjects. As an undergrad he studied English at SUNY Potsdam and later completed his masters at George Mason University.
